The Cut Plane panel is mainly used to cut the model and analyse the cut section. You can define the cut on the object using X,Y,Z sliding bars.
Use the Cut Plane Tool to create section cuts enabling you to view geometry within your model.
If you wish to see the lines of the cut , you can select line checkbox & same is for the faces.
The Plane itself can me generated in a number of ways listed in the Plane Cut tool
