You can use the Shrinkwrap mesh to see the Shrinkwrap mesh of your model. A shrinkwrap is generated by an Octree approach. (The volume mesh is discarded and only the surface mesh is kept. )
The shrinkwrap is used when the CAD topology is not complete enough to be used. The shrinkwrap is very powerful and it is a fast effective way of dealing with very dirty geometry
